Gravura
Pasaje de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores de San Juan, 3-1º, Málaga
Galería Taller Gravura opened in the old town of Málaga in 1981, founded by Paco Aguilar. From the start, the workshop has had a markedly open character, making it possible for many artists to produce their work here. That collaboration has taken different forms, in individual editions of prints or in collective portfolios.
Teaching the techniques of this discipline has continued to this day. One afternoon a week you can attend in-person sessions, or take part in intensive courses given at the workshop itself, at various institutions or in other settings, such as the summer workshop ‘Gravura Rural’, on the southern slope of the Sierra del Torcal Natural Area.
Paco Aguilar has built an intense body of work bringing together painting, printmaking, graphic design and sculpture, with numerous projects and more than 60 solo exhibitions to his name.
The workshop is currently run jointly by Paco Aguilar and Mariana Martín, who joined Gravura in the late 1980s, with the valuable collaboration of Inma Carrasco in this adventure.
The exhibition programme Mariana Martín runs in the workshop’s gallery is devoted mainly to print, work on paper and sculpture, by both well-known artists and young makers.
Gravura encourages collecting through a subscription scheme for acquiring work by artists such as Enrique Brinkmann, María José Vargas Machuca, Jorge Lindell, José A. Diazdel, Christian Bozon, Javier Roz, Nieves Galiot, Michele Lehmann, Sebastián Navas, José Faria, Chema Lumbreras, Rafael Alvarado, Natalia Resnik, Francisco Peinado, Óscar Pérez and Paco Aguilar himself, among others.
