Eldevenir Art Gallery
Av. Isaac Albéniz, 3. 3º A1. Torrox
Eldevenir Art Gallery describes itself as a rhizomatic art gallery with no permanent physical space, by conviction. The gallery is directed by María Rosa Jurado Sánchez (Torrox, Málaga), who trained in Madrid as an architect and holds a degree in Fine Art.
The formal language the gallery is most involved with is new figuration. It works with Spanish visual artists, focusing its attention on the Andalusian scene and collaborating with notable artists such as Luis Acosta, Fernando Bayona, Jesús Chacón, Rafael Jiménez Reyes, Irene Sánchez Moreno, José Antonio Vallejo, Simon Zabell and Jesús Zurita. The shows it has organised are built from works in a range of techniques: photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, video and installation. The project began in January 2016 online and linked to the publishing of print editions. A year later it held its first exhibition at Sala El Pósito, in the Málaga town of Vélez-Málaga, and since then it has organised more than 20 exhibition projects in different venues in Málaga and Seville and has taken part in international contemporary art fairs in Málaga, Madrid, Santander, Lisbon and Cologne. Since 2020 it has had a space of its own in Torrox, but it keeps to its founding philosophy, holding exhibitions in new locations wherever art and its becoming may take it.
